Leaders
It's often declared that timing is everything, and, if that is the case, America and the world, today, is experiencing unfortunate timing, because, when there are significant challenges, to the health and well - being, of the public/ world, as we presently faced, we need leaders, READY, willing and able, to bring us through, in the wisest way! Unfortunately, that seems, to many people, to be the opposite of what we're witnessing. A recent study, done at Columbia University, declared, the strong probability, if we reacted sooner, regarding this pandemic (by just 2 weeks earlier, or so), tens of thousands of lives, would have been saved, and far fewer, would be infected by this virus. With, well over a million cases of infections, and approximately, 100, 000 deaths, information is being released, which indicates, our government was informed of the potential pandemic, in January 2020, even though, President Donald Trump, appeared to pay it little heed. New York City, and New Orleans, were particularly impacted by these delays. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and its impacts and ramifications.
1. Relevant; reliable; responsible; responsive; realistic: While declaring the potential pandemic, a hoax, and then, minimizing its risks, instead of proceeding, in a relevant manner, many reliable actions, were avoided, and/ or, delayed! How is anyone being responsible, and responsive to the needs of the public, when he refuses to proceed, in any way, which doesn't directly align, with an individual's personal/ political agenda, and/ or, self - interest?
2. Empathy; emphasis; energize; excellence: Isn't it comforting to constituents, when they feel, their leader, exhibits genuine empathy, and places his emphasis, accordingly? When some equates economic considerations, with protecting human life, what message does that send? Which message might energize followers, to working together, for the common good, and especially, today, following sane, necessary public health measures, such as Social Distancing, and wearing a mask? Shouldn't we demand a focus on greater excellence, rather than, merely, good - enough?
3. Attitude; aptitude; attention; articulates: People need leaders, with a positive, can - do, attitude, combined with a well - developed, relevant aptitude and skill - set! When someone seems to be, either, not ready, willing, and/ or, able to pay keen attention to necessary, relevant, sustainable necessities, and articulates a polarizing message, when we need unifying, that individual isn't ready, for prime - time!
4. Delve deeply; determine/ discover; deliver: Rather than looking back, to the past, using generalizations, and slogans, wouldn't we be better served and represented, if/ when, that leader consistently, was willing to delve deeply, in order to determine the best path forward! He must discover a viable solution, and deliver on his promises, and the best strategic and action plan!
5. You; yes: Just, like a leader, who must take personal responsibility, for the greater good, you must demand better representation! In order for decisions to be made properly, and wisely, instead of surrounding himself, with yes - men, the holder of the highest office in the land, must realize, science, and data matters, etc.
When we consider the potential ramifications of electing unprepared people, to high public offices, shouldn't we make sure, in the future, we elect individuals, who are READY to serve and represent this nation, in the best manner? It's up to each of us, to pay keen attention, when we vote, in the future!
